Our Approach to Physical Activity

We want to help organizations eliminate all excuses and any barriers to ensure the success of our programs and a healthier community. No space, no problem. Space too small, no problem. No equipment, it’s not necessary.

Equity Design uses a one size DOES NOT fit all approach to physical activity. Each community moves differently, so why would we prescribe the same physical activity prescription to each of them?

Our program design is driven by data, as well as national frameworks and theories geared towards changes in behaviors and lifestyles. Our approach is to design, implement and evaluate programming that dispels the notion that fitness is not fitness if you are not sweating or experiencing any pain. Instead, we want youth and adults to have a positive experience with physical activity by camouflaging it with fun activities that will engage them.

We are committed to each of the communities we serve by learning and understanding their culture, establishing trust and showing a genuine vested interest and equity in each of them. We will do everything possible to learn, understand and address the challenges each community is faced with through physical activity.

Our Process

Step 1: Identify Needs

What problem(s) are we trying to solve/behavior changed through physical activity?

Step 3: Implementation

What is the best possible option to create a sustainable program while delivering outcomes

Step 2: Program Design

Design the program that best meets the community’s needs, using the theory of change to promote the health behavior and social change/shift we are looking for.

Step 4: Evaluation

Determine what works, what does not work, and what is needed to ensure programming is all inclusive and generating the impact desired on the targeted population and/or community.
